After my disastrous non 20 miler Sunday, I just about gave up hope. Ran an okay 5 miler yesterday. But TODAY! Today is a different story. My day started with a torturous visit to a podiatrist. Torturous, but extremely successful. Worth every stressful, painful moment. Torturous because I really, really don't like needles. Makes me nauseous just thinking about them.
Long story short: one painful, burning cortisone shot to my tender heel and two sharp numbing shots to my big toe so all the blood could be drained from under my nail(ewww..) and some funky handmade orthodics by the doc and I ran 8 miles like the wind (okay, a slow breeze) just a short six hours later. Best run I've had in weeks! Doc said the shot should last three weeks and guess what?
Pigs Fly in 15 days!
And that's less than three weeks away folks.
